Thalaivaa is an upcoming Tamil thriller film directed by A. L. Vijay and produced by Chandra Prakash Jain,
producer of Jai Hind. The film features Vijay and Amala Paul in the lead roles,
and features Rajiv Pillai, Santhanam and Sathyaraj in supportive roles.
The film's soundtrack and background score is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumarand has turned out to be
a great success. The film is scheduled to release on August 2, 2013.

Filming Expressing their support for Haasan, shootings were only to resume after the release of his film in

 Tamil Nadu.
As of February 8, 2013, 50 percent of total shootings were completed,
with stunt scenes conducted by Stunt Silva.
 Ragini Nandwani, who plays a North Indian, stated that all of her film sequences were shot in Mumbai over
 25–30 days. They moved to Chennai and shot a song at Binny Mills.
A last shooting schedule in Australia was completed by April 24.
They shot scenes at the Bondi Beach in New South Wales.
It was revealed that Vijay would portray a leader of a dance group based in Australia. Vijay would be seen performing dance styles of different genres including tap dancing.

The soundtrack features five songs and two theme music tracks.
G. V. Prakash Kumar is composing the soundtrack and Na. Muthukumar writing the lyrics, both teaming with
A. L. Vijay for the fifth time, this is G. V. Prakash's first collaboration with actor Vijay.
As of November 21, 2012, he had composed two songs for the film.
One song had been sung by Vijay being his 25th song alongside with Santhanam.
A third song was completed on February 11, 2013.
The audio launch took place on June 21, 2013 in Hotel Connemara.
The audio rights of Thalaivaa was bought by Sony Music.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Thalaivaa directed by Vijay which is now in post-production stage will be released just a week before the Independence Day, on August 9th. The film has Vijay, Amala Paul and Sathyaraj in the lead with music by GV Prakash.

It was earlier decided that the film will hit the screens on the actor's birthday, but due to technical issues, the release kept getting postponed and until recently, it was expected to be a July release. Thalaivaa is said to be an action entertainer produced by Sri Mishri Productions Chandraparakash Jain. The audio of the film has been snapped by Sony Music and it is set to be launched on Vijay's birthday on June 22.

Thalaivaa will be distributed in Tamil Nadu by Vendhar Movies S Madhan. Vendhar Movies, is the house which has distributed movies like Vanayuddham, Paagan, Saguni, Alex Pandian, and the recently released Ethir Neechal.
